Early
Learning BookPaks
Early
Learning BookPaks are theme-based resource kits for
early childhood educators/caregivers and home school
parents. BookPaks can be used with large groups,
small groups, or individual children. All
materials for each BookPak are contained in a mesh
backpack. Each BookPak contains several
non-fiction and picture books along with a variety of
other items that are designed to enhance early literacy
skills. Puppets, games, puzzles, videos, and audio
materials are just some of the many types of materials
that may be present in each BookPak. All BookPaks
are designed for use with preschool aged children, but
most are also suitable for use with children who are
slightly older or younger.
Use
of the BookPaks is limited to educators, daycare staff,
and home school parents. Persons desiring to check
out a BookPak for use in their classroom must provide
proof of status, such as an ID or letter from their
school or daycare institution, registration with County
School System for home school status, or membership with
a local home school support group.
A
detailed list of all BookPaks is available at the
Children's Room Circulation Desk. Due to space and
security considerations, the BookPaks are not available
for browsing. Each teacher can select two BookPaks,
and they can be kept for a period of two weeks. A
late fee of $1.00 per day will be charged for BookPaks
that are not returned on time. Any lost items or
damages beyond normal wear and tear are the
responsibility of the borrower. BookPaks may be
reserved for same day pickup only. Because many
teachers cover similar topics during the same time
period, we cannot guarantee the availability of a
particular BookPak at a specific time.
