About the Children’s Library and Links

The Children’s Library was opened to the general public on January 25th, 2003.  The Children’s Library contains books, audiobooks, and magazines for children 13 years and under.  There is a study room available for children to do homework or tutoring.  We also have computers for children to use.   To use the computers, a child must have his/her library card available, with no overdue items.

Hey friends, did you read a great book this year?  You can share it through the library’s Best Books of 2024 so other kids can enjoy it too!  You can submit a book by paper ballot in the library or by online form HERE.  Voting is open through December 28th.

Story Time at the Library

There will be no Story Time on Wednesday, November 27th.

The Children’s Library offers programming for young children on Wednesday mornings from 10:30-11:30 a.m.  We enjoy stories, songs, nursery rhymes, music, dancing, snacks, and play time.  Activities take place in the Community Room.

Read to a Dog Program

Therapy Dog Odie is coming to the Children’s Library every other Saturday at 11am.   Come and share a favorite book with him!  Odie will be here on November 30th, December 14th and 28th.

Our Read to a Dog program welcomes children to come and practice their reading skills.  Have fun while improving your reading skills with one of our therapy dogs.  If you can’t read yet, you can look at a picture book and explain in your own words what the book is about.  The dogs love to listen to you!  All children and their families are invited.

DOROTHY’S FABULOUS FALL GAMES!!

Children are invited to come to the Morristown-Hamblen Library Children’s Room for fun games created by Miss Dorothy, including darts, cornhole, and stack ’em.  Everything is free, so come and enjoy some family time at the library!
