Reading Program
The Children’s summer reading program, “Make a Splash @ Your Library,” was a great success! Our totals for the program are as follows:
Grand Total of Children Registered (Library & Daycare): 839
Grand Total of Children Who Participated (Library & Daycare): 438
Grand Total of Books Read (Library & Daycare): 15,255
Number of Children Who Earned Prize Pack 1 Only: 123
Number of Children Who Earned Both Prize Packs & Drawing Entry: 158
Total attendance for Story Times and Special Guest Programs: 626
We had a very successful teen/tween summer reading program, “Explore the Past: Read @ Your Library.” Teens competed against each other to see whose army would win, Northern or Southern. The teens were divided up into armies by age. In the end, the Southern Army came from behind on the last day of the program to win. Our totals for the program are as follows:
Number of teen participants: 17
Number of books read: 727
Total attendance for teen workshops: 33
This year the Morristown-Hamblen Library held an adult summer reading program, “Water Your Mind: Read @ Your Library.” We had a good turnout for our first year, with those completing the program receiving tote bags. Our totals are as follows:
Number of adult participants: 25
Number of books/materials/requirements: 244
